Bolivia is remote, high, unknown, & remains little explored by most Americans travelers. Bolivia is a treasure house of Indian life and superb craft in a stunning visual environment.

Itinerary: This itinerary is flexible so we can take advantage of spontaneous opportunities.

DAY 1: Late night, fly Lloyd Aero Boliviano Miami to La Paz.

DAYS 2-3: Arrive in La Paz's El Alto airport (12,800 ft.). La Paz is in a nearby valley at 11,500 feet. Our hotel is excellently located for our craft interests. Visit museums: musical instruments, ethnographic art; Calle Sagarnaga, witchcraft market.

DAYS 4-7: Travel to Lake Titicaca and Copacabana. Visit Island of the Sun, Huatajata, & Achacachi. Visit the Chrazani Valley (north side of Lake Titicaca) known for textiles & Kallahuaya medicine men.

DAY 8: Return to La Paz.

Tarabuco, Bolivia
DAY 9: Fly to Sucre (9,200 ft.), beautiful colonial town with wonderful ambiance.

DAY 10: Drive to Tarabuco. Tarabuco people have striking costumes. Hats styled after Spanish conquistador's helmets. Also study warp patterned Jalq'a textiles (motifs are an endless array of animals & fantastic creatures).

DAY 11: Today and tomorrow visit Jalq'a textile village and Sucre.

DAY 12-13: Explore Sucre or drive to Potosi (13,400 feet) to see Casa de la Moneda, Silver works, the mine, and classic Andes mountains.

DAY 14: Explore local market district, then fly to La Paz in the afternoon.

DAY 15: Visit archeological site of Tiahuanaco (600 BC to 1200 AD), once a great ceremonial center with the most imposing pre-Inca megalithic architecture in South America.

DAY 16: Last day in La Paz is to explore the many shops and markets. Evening flight on Lloyd Aero Boliviano to Miami.

DAY 17: Arrive early morning on Lloyd Aero Boliviano in Miami.
Important Note: Because of the high elevation in Bolivia this trip is not suited for people with heart or respiratory problems.
