Gordon Frost Folk Art Tours Tikal Maya Ruins Extension 4 days/3 nights |
|||||||||||||||
Located in a beautiful tropical rain forest, Tikal is the most magnificent, ancient ruin in the Western Hemisphere. Time and place were important to the Maya. To them, time was not just a linear measurement – days were personalities, and with its celestially aligned structures, Tikal was a Maya sacred center. Gordon Frost has explored Maya ruins for many years, making rubbings in a number of remote Maya sites. Gordon Frost's personally selected Tikal guide will lead you. Itinerary DAYS 1 to 2: Fly from Guatemala City to Tikal's nearest airport, the Santa Elena-Flores airport, then drive to Tikal. There is time to explore and photograph pyramids, palaces, temples, plazas, and causeways. Beyond Tikal, travel to the ruins of Uaxactun, extensively recorded by the Carnegie Institution of Washington, DC. Your Flores Island hotel is sited at the water's edge in Lake Peten-Itza.
